It’s recently been announced that the building of a ferris wheel on Brighton seafront is going ahead this year !
The wheel (which is said to be with us until at least 2016) will be situated about 100m east from the Palace Pier and be open thirteen hours a day , all year round.
Each ride will last around 11minutes and , on full capacity , show 280 passengers the wonderful City of Brighton from a 45ft high view.
Here at The Oriental , we are really excited about this new attraction comint to Brighton , and guessing it’s going to be hugely popular for our future guests.
We will update you on opening dates and any other developments as soon as we are informed so keep checking back at our website.

What may end up as a monthly event , The Oriental brings you ‘Oriental Goes Live’.
Two hours of acoustic music from local singer/songwriters who will be performing original songs and also classic sing-along’s for you to join in with !
There will be a drinks promo and the hotel bar (as always) will be open for the public as well as guests.
We are hoping for a great night that will compliment the warm, friendly and fun atmosphere we feel lucky to have here already.

The incredibly talented Bedoiun Soundclash are coming to Brighton next month to promote their forth record ‘Light the Horizon’. The album has already had some amazing feedback , which is hardly surprising considering the success of the previous three.
As someone who as seen these guys live before , I cannot recommend it enough. The unbelievably tight rhythm section drives the catchy songs that blend dub, reggae and ska.
Prepare to have your heads bopping and your feet stopping to the soundtrack of summer 2011 !!

The legendary Elton John will be coming to Brighton this summer during his 2011 world tour with the band. The venue for this spectacular event is Sussex County Ground, Hove. As you can imagine this is going to be a highly popular show and an amazing one too !

* Hobgoblin will be hosting a weekend of entertainment with ‘Brighton’s Got Talent’. Starting on the Thursday night with the final on Sunday. The wedding will be shown live on a cinema screen with BBQ , games and local arts and crafts stalls ! It’s going to be a brilliant party in this large pub complete with a gorgeous terrace – perfect for sunshine drinks !!

Every summer Volks Railway runs a service along the seafront between the Palace Pier to the Marina. Just under a mile long ; the train is fun, scenic and convenient. The station has been running since 1883 and has a lot of interesting history. Check out the official website for details, information, times and fares.

Local promotions company ‘Mode Music’ are putting on a night of acoustic acts and bands at this intimate venue on Manchester Street, Brighton. Jenna Bennett (our weekend receptionist) will be amongst the performers doing an original set with her new band ! It’s £3 on the door and promises to be a great night. To join in with the Chocolate festival in Brighton , The Oriental are going to have yummy Chocolate Mojito’s on their bar menu all weekend. The gorgeous recipe consists of Bicardi Rum, Mint Leaves, Lime Wedges with Gomme and melted chocolate and will be served over ice and soda water.
Garnished with grated chocolate and fresh strawberries, this is going to be one to try . . .
