This year’s Brighton Festival promises to be one of the best ever. The Festival Guest Director is Aung San Suu Kyi who recently released from prison has fought passionately for over two decades for democracy and human rights, and is the leader of National League for Democracy (NLD) in Burma. Highlights of the Festival this year include Asian Dub Foundation, Laurie Anderson and Chouf Ouchouf and there are loads outdoor and indoor events taking place during the Festival which lasts from 7-29 May throughout the City. Its a wonderful time to be in the City and just soak up the atmosphere and take in a few shows.

Brighton Stonewall Equality Walk , May 01
On May 01 Stonewall charity will be holding their 8th annual walk on equality.
Promising to be a great, atmospheric day as the event continues to gain popularity each year.
The day starts at 12 noon until late and includes a picnic and freebies for all participants.
To celebrate after the walk, there is a post-walk party with drinks, medals and a raffle.

Congathon @ Brighton Pier March 12
“Party on the Pier” will kick off British Tourism Week 2011 on Saturday 12th March, it will be a national celebration of Britain’s piers and their heritage, and the biggest nationwide event on Britain’s piers since Year of the Pier in 1996.There will be a series of events throughout the week on the pier, culminating in a firework display on the 19th at 9.30pm. On Friday 18th Simon Kirby MP will be there to talk about the Importance of Tourism in the Regeneration of the British Seaside.
British Tourism week, offers businesses an opportunity to promote the industry and have some fun. Businesses and organisations all over the UK and from every section of the tourism industry will be involved.
