All the staff welcomed us which made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. The room standard was excellent as it was always lovely and clean, with a freshly made bed every morning. Thank you very much we really enjoy our stay.

“Sumptuous and supportive”

The Oriental is a “Boutique Hotel” which seems to mean art prints and a certain quirkiness of décor. However, it also seems to mean a personalised and attentive service, and these things, along with its accessibility to both coast and shops, along with an enviable quietness at night, makes it a comfortable, friendly stay.

It seemed expensive for the size on booking, but it did feel like it was worth it very soon into the stay. Adrian, in particular, was lovely – generous, friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I have many food and other allergies, and they were able to cater for them without any fuss at short notice. Noticing that I had a cane, my bags were carried up the rather windy stairs for me by another member of staff in a competent and non-patronising fashion.

I would recommend staying here heartily, especially for independent travellers with no children who fancy a slightly quieter place to stop. Free Wifi, a desk, extra pillows on request, and a lovely shower room made it all even better!

Lovely room, an Ipod dock would be a nice touch. Also a bar soap would be nice as well as the liquid one. Great breakfast and nice welcome on arrival.
