Scott Allen

Brighton borne Scott has not exhibited before so we are absolutely thrilled to be able to show you his work for the first time.

Scott’s art is instantly identifiable as belonging to the comic art genre. Born in Brighton and now living in London, Scott plays with a range of media on canvas to create varied textures and finishes. The restrained use of colour and crisp white borders aim to give the impression of uniformity.

In this debut exhibition, there are stand out, one off pieces and those belonging to a series. Work is concentrated on the face; exact emotions of subjects are left to the interpretation of the viewer. This is further demonstrated by the use of blank speech bubbles. In his series he explores how colour can alter the mood of a portrait.

The overall intention is to create glossy, vibrant characters that are free from the imperfections of the real world and are planted in a world where image and speech tell a story.
