Due South - £££   "Seriously good food: exquisite oysters, perfectly cooked lamb and whole seabass cooked with herbs."   Observer Food Monthly - Free glass of champagne for Oriental customers - ask at Reception.

Jamie's Italian - ££   Jamie Oliver's brand new Italian eaterie in the Lanes serving fresh fish, pasta and pizza.  Bookings only for large parties, queues at peak times.  (Top tip - put your name on the list, get a pager and pop into Lucky Voice bar next door for delicious cocktails in peaceful surroundings while you wait.)

Murasaki - ££   Fabulous intimate izakaya style restaurant serving small 'tapas' type dishes. It's quite different to your typical Japanese sushi restaurants.

Aguadulce - ££ Wonderful authentic Spanish tapas in simple surroundings, reasonably priced. Flamenco night on Thursdays.

Also try Santiago ££ on seafront by Due South for summer lunch.

Terre a Terre - ££  Forget everything you have ever read or heard about vegetarian food. Dining at Terre à Terre is a culinary experience like no other. 

Riddle and Finns -£££  Due South's sister restaurant for serious seafood lovers in an informal setting.  Free glass of champagne for Oriental customers - ask at Reception.

The Gingerman - £££ This local restaurant has spawned several lovely gastropubs too but the original offers intimate fine dining using fresh seasonal produce and great service.

Pompoko - £ Opposite the Dome this small Japanese Cafe serves ldelicious rice bowl dishes super fast and cheap and its BYO.
